Sometimes in life if we want to be Biblical we have to move beyond religious affiliation and tradition.
I encourage everyone to read and study baptism for yourself. I am very aware that Jesus Christ instructed the Apostles to "Go Ye Therefore" baptizing in the (Name) of the father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. ( Matt:28:19 ) Most everyone would agree that Of the father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost are prepositional phrases refering to ...... (Name) Before you just say that we are totally off base, could you please lay aside religious tradition and give me one biblical illustration where anyone was ever baptized calling on the titles of God ( Father, Son, Holy Ghost) ? All I ask for is just one illustration anywhere in the bible where someone was baptized that way. If you have no illustration, I would assume that it would be ok to say that the Apostles were carrying out, not disobeying the command of Matthew 28:19 when they baptized in "The Name" of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins as recorded in Acts chapter 2:38. Luke 24:47 (KJV) 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. I can show you multiple scripture where they were baptized in the name of "JESUS CHRIST" I also encourage you to read the verses above and below the following references Acts 8:16 (KJV) 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 10:48 (KJV) 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 19:5 (KJV) 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Again I ask for only one illustration of baptizing in Father, Son, Holy Ghost, which are not names but titles. I know that you are now beginning to see that father is not a name no more than neice, nephew or grandchild is a name. Please don't allow traditional beliefs to keep you from being buried with Christ in baptism. Acts 2:38 (KJV) 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was Jesus Christ who shed his blood and died for our sins We are to be His bride. Why should we be ashamed of taking on His Name Hebrews 9:22 (KJV) 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Regardless of your religious affiliation, even if you consider yourself a Trinitarian. I urge you to please have someone baptize you in the Name (of the father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost) which is "Jesus Christ" Jesus Christ is the promised one of Isaiah 9:6 6 For unto us a child is born (JESUS), unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. He said if you are ashamed of Him, He would be ashamed of you. Acts 4:12 (KJV) 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. *** Second Thought*** John the Baptist did not baptize using the titles. There is no proof that he did, he baptized unto repentance only. Therefore the Apostle Paul in Acts 19 had a problem with John the Baptist baptism and commanded them to be re-baptized in the name of Jesus. I am sorry if you have been offended by this post, however it is not my intention to offend or come across as a know it all. But I am disgusted with Satan lying to intelligent men and women and selling them short on biblical truths. I urge you to please lay aside traditional teachings and study the word of God for yourself. Please read and study the history of the church prior to 325 AD. and the Nicene Creed.
